Our company, the AG Group, comprises of our various branches in Dar-es-Salaam, Arusha and Zanzibar. Our flagship showroom is called The Tanzanite Dream and including this one, we have twelve beautiful outlets spread throughout Tanzania. With the backing of generations of experience, we bring you the best that the gemstone and jewelry industry of Tanzania has to offer, and we are proud to be one of the premier dealers in gemstones and fine jewelry in this country.
Beginnings
AG Group is a venture that began with a passion for Tanzanian gemstones. What is now The Tanzanite Dream and Afro Gems group, was started more than 30 years ago as a small gemstone and jewelry shop in Dar-es-Salaam. The journey started with a single shop, driven by a commitment to offer the finest Tanzanian gemstones to the world.
Today, more than three decades later, this family-owned business has grown significantly and is now managed by the second generation of the founder. Under the visionary leadership of Managing Director Hiran Sumanaweera, the AG Group has expanded its operations into a robust network of 15 branches . The company’s success in the gemstone and jewelry industry has paved the way for diversification into other sectors, including real estate and construction, demonstrating it’s adaptability and ambition to continue growing and evolving.
With its deep-rooted legacy in the gemstone industry, AG Group remains a trusted name, now making significant strides in new business ventures while upholding its commitment to quality, integrity, and innovation.
Our Strengths
As we have been in the business of gemstones and jewelry for more than three decades, we have built an invaluable network that supports our company and enables us to provide the very best in terms of quality, value, and customer satisfaction.
We procure our raw gemstones from carefully vetted sources and have our own gem cutting and processing facilities. Our jewelry manufacturing workshop is run by a team of skilled craftspeople, who strive to produce beautiful masterpieces without any compromise on quality. This means that we can ensure that each piece in our showroom is crafted to the highest standard at especially competitive prices.

We, as a company, are determined to work in such a way as to benefit our community and we implement our corporate policies accordingly. We adhere to high ethical standards when it comes to sourcing all our raw materials. We employ staff from within the local communities and provide thorough training which in turn develops a highly skilled labor force.
We partner with several local organizations for various charity and fundraising endeavors, including the Rotary Club of Dar-es-Salaam and The Asian Mamas Dar-es-Salaam. We provide sponsorship to major events that raise money for causes that we believe in, an example of which is the Goat Races in Dar-es-Salaam. We strongly believe that it is important to give back to the community that sustains our business, and we strive to do so in every aspect so we all can grow together in a meaningful way.
